Healthy Tip #1. Eat ginger everyday.

eating healthierIf you like the pungent taste of ginger, indulge each day. It’s natural anti-inflammatory property will do you loads of good.

People suffering from chronic pain, arthritis, sinusitis, high cholesterol, fibromyalgia, asthma, even heart disease and more can all benefit from ginger’s anti-inflammatory nature as these conditions all have an inflammation component.

Studies have shown a reduction in pain, easing of respiration and other chronic symptoms.

You can buy non-crystallized ginger without too much sugar and can chew several chunks a day. If you don’t like the flavor, standardized, powdered ginger in capsules makes it easy. This can be more costly but also more effective. Take 500-1000mg/day.

Buy organic if you can.

Of course another delightful use for the versatile spice is to cook with it. Many Asian dishes include fresh chopped or powdered ginger. The wonderful aroma of fresh ginger and garlic simmering in your stir fry should certainly wet your appetite !

Healthy Tip #2. If you are diabetic, pre-diabetic or hypo/hyperglycemic add cinnamon to your diet.

diebeticCinnamon regulates insulin- so it works when you have large fluctuations in your blood sugar. Cinnamon also works to lower blood cholesterol and triglycerides.

Cinnamon has a history of use in cuisines from all over the world. Middle Eastern, African, Latin American, and American to name a few.

Try a quarter to a half teaspoon a day. You can add to hot and cold cereals, (my favorite is oatmeal with bananas and cinnamon!) Or, try some Mexican hot chocolate, made with soy milk and a healthy dose of cinnamon.

If your body temperature tends to run hot, you might want to try an alternative as cinnamon can raise the body temperature

Healthy Tip #3. Eat whole fruit instead of drinking juice.

healthy eatingYou miss out on all the fiber & pack in tons of extra calories when you have the juice. This is even more true if you're drinking juice that is not "100%" juice because it will be loaded with sugar/corn syrup.

If you do opt for the juice- and that's OK now and then- go for the freshest variety you can find that is closest to the fruit's natural state. Something like freshly squeezed orange juice not from concentrate including the pulp.
